Software Testing Programme
Software Testing Course with Practice Labs and Placement Support
Software Test Engineer
Overview
The Software Testing course at Career Catalyst Institute is the manual-testing track inside CCI Academy. The published syllabus starts from why testing exists and walks through how software is built, how a test cycle is planned, how requirements become scenarios, and how test cases are designed. The track description in the product is SDLC, STLC, test design, defect reporting, SQL, APIs, and Agile workflows used in product and service companies. The default role stored for this track is Software Test Engineer.
After you create a student account, this programme sits inside the same CCI Academy login as the other three tracks. The campus already includes a student dashboard, learner profile, assessment hub, learning roadmap, course lessons, practice labs, a resume builder, a certificates vault, and a placement desk. Faculty use the admin campus for students, curriculum, assessments, placements, certificates, and mailbox. AI Mentor, Interview Prep, and Community Hub are routed in the product and marked as coming next; they are not live lesson tracks.
Lessons in this track are not slide-only. The learning product supports notes, multi-part reading, inline quizzes, assignments, flashcards, and writing labs. The assessment hub scores this track across Manual Testing and STLC, SQL and databases for QA, API and web services testing, Agile and testing methodology, Jira and defect management, and QA communication. A full assessment covers those six areas. Each category allows three attempts per day. A separate roadmap assessment for Software Testing can be taken up to twice per day and is what builds the study roadmap.
Syllabus and modules
The seeded Software Testing syllabus in the LMS contains five modules. Module 0, Software Industry and QA Foundation, covers why testing exists, the mindset of a QA engineer, career paths, and the course roadmap. Its lessons include a welcome and course roadmap, what software is, types of software, how the software industry works from idea to product, product-based versus service-based companies, and an SDLC overview. Module 1, Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), covers requirement gathering through maintenance, SDLC models, and an industry case study. Its lessons run from an introduction to SDLC through requirement gathering, project planning, system design, development, testing, deployment, maintenance, SDLC models, interview questions, a real-time case study, and a module assessment.
Module 2, Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC), covers the phases from requirement analysis to test closure, plus an end-to-end practical project. Lessons include the STLC introduction, requirement analysis, test planning, test scenario design, test case design, test data preparation, test environment setup, test execution, defect reporting, retesting and regression, test closure, and an STLC practical project. Module 3, Requirements and Test Scenarios, covers BRD, FRD, SRS, user stories, acceptance criteria, use cases, and test scenarios, including functional versus non-functional requirements. Module 4, Test Case Design, covers test case basics, templates and documentation standards, and positive test cases in the published lesson list.
The in-app learning roadmap also labels later study steps that are not the same five seed modules: Software Foundation, SDLC, Software Testing, STLC, Test Case Design, Black Box Testing, Bug Reporting, SQL, API Testing, Agile and Jira, Automation Testing, and a job-ready QA step that points at the placement desk. Black-box topics named on that roadmap are equivalence partitioning, boundary value analysis, decision tables, and state transitions. Treat the five seeded modules as the lesson catalogue that is written into the database scripts, and the roadmap labels as the study order shown in the app.
Tools covered
Tools and techniques named in the assessment and lesson copy for this track are SQL (SELECT, JOINs, GROUP BY, aggregations, and database assertions), REST APIs with JSON payloads, HTTP status codes, headers, and Postman basics, plus Jira issue types, workflow states, bug tracking, and root-cause tags. Agile topics named in the assessments are Scrum ceremonies, the sprint backlog, user stories, and acceptance criteria. Writing labs inside lessons are called out on the campus landing page as part of this programme, especially for tester bug reports. TODO: a required tool list, software versions, and whether Postman or Jira accounts are provided by the institute is not published in this LMS.
Duration, fees, and who can join
TODO: full course duration and total study hours are not published in this LMS. Individual seeded lessons on the early web and Python tracks store lesson-level durations such as 15 minutes or 20 minutes; those figures are not a Software Testing course length, and this page does not treat them as one. TODO: course fee is not published in this LMS. TODO: batch timing and class schedule are not published in this LMS.
The published lessons include beginner guides, including “What is Software?” and industry guides for people new to how product and service companies work. TODO: a formal eligibility rule, such as required degree, year of study, or prior experience, is not published in this LMS. Signup on the campus accepts an email account or faculty-issued batch credentials. The learner profile then stores education, experience, a target package field, a primary programme, and a skills inventory. This page does not state what that target package should be.
Career outcomes
The role attached to this track is Software Test Engineer. Outcomes named on the campus for the testing programme are writing labs inside lessons, skill assessment categories, and a placement-ready tester profile. Completing module or track requirements can produce certificates that the student downloads from the certificates vault. The resume builder fills from the profile and skills inventory and downloads a CCI-branded PDF. The assessment report records category scores and evaluator notes, and the roadmap reorders study around weaker categories.
TODO: placement rate, salary figures, and hiring-company names are not published in this LMS.
Placement support
Placement support is the same campus desk used by all four programmes. Students can browse open roles and walk-ins, mark Applied or Interested, attach notes, and revisit closed roles. Internship offer letters are requested with college and start date and are verified and emailed by faculty. When faculty share a role by email, the product also records it in the campus workflow. Employer mail goes to placements@cci.in.net. Admissions mail goes to info@cci.in.net and student support goes to support@cci.in.net. TODO: campus address is not published in this LMS. TODO: phone number is not published in this LMS.
